The Artist
Edward Krent is of two worlds - sculptor and museum interpreter. His experience as a principal, museum designer and planner at Krent/Paffett Associates and Krent Sculpture has given him the exposure to a thirty-year dialogue with unique experts, and multiple interpretations of cultures, technology, science, nature and art in public spaces. His life experience has been focused and embedded in the diverse disciplines of sculpture, museum design, interpretive hands-on education and teaching.
His work is the result of capturing the essence of an idea in a dynamic form, finding and often pushing its boundaries. He develops each expression as an opportunity, holding and capturing an abstract translation of ideas, creating visual tension and meaning. The final forms capture dynamic moments of transformation in both time and space expressing ideas through experiential form and mass.
Specific installations include: Boomba, the iconic sculpture at the 1996 Olympic City, Atlanta, GA, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, The Science Musseum of Virginia, Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, The Science Center of Tech Valley, and The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose. Most recently Ed has been responsible for the highly successful planning, development and design of the MIT museum expansion, and “Slavery in New York” for the New York Historical Society.
Mr. Krent holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design and Master of Environmental Design from Pratt Institute, New York.
